Temescal Ridge is the other half of the loop with Temescal Canyon, but is shorter and steeper. The Ridge trail is all about the ocean views, which are non-existent most mornings because of the marine layer, but are jaw dropping on a clear day.
The views are best if you run the loop counter-clockwise, that way the view is always in front of you. The ocean is just starting to come into view here.
The first view of the coastline from Malibu to Palos Verdes.
A look back at the Century City skyline with downtown LA behind it.
A 360 view from one of the mini-peaks in the area.
The ocean views start getting wider.
A postcard coastline view.
Starting to drop elevation.
The coastline view from a little lower elevation.
Dropping back down towards the Gateway.
Some very expensive homes.
Back down into the canyon. The last mile is almost an 800' mile. It's a tough downhill when you're cold and stiff in the morning.
Last chance for an ocean view..
Some nice single track.
A steep, rutted up/downhill.
Back to the trailhead.
The view on a foggy morning. Almost as amazing as the ocean views.
The night views are great too. The downhil is technical enough to be pretty tough with the headlamp, but it's definitley a lot of fun.
