8/24/20 My first night hike on Baldy. Up the Ski Hut trail in the early evening, alone on the summit for sunset, and then down entirely in the dark. An awesome, eery, experience!
1 The obligatory waterfall shot.
2 A little bit different lighting than usual heading up Ski Hut.
3 I saw a couple deer on the way up, this one posed perfectly.
4 Ski Hut in the evening.
5 A look across Baldy Bowl with no direct sunlight left.
6 A look out towards the ocean with the moon already showing.
7 Starting to get dim with some beautiful colors.
8 Made it to the top.
9 360 view from when I first got on top.
10 I had the summit to myself just after sunset. Where it had been 85 degrees at the trailhead, it was probably in the low 50s or even high 40s on top with a cold wind.
11 Same view a little later. Despite the cold wind, I forced myself to stay on top until it was fully dark.
12 Almost dark now. Gorgeous colors, partly due to all the wildfires burning in the state right now.
13 And just about all the way dark. Ready to start heading down.
14 360 view as it's time to head down.
15 The nighttime cityscape.
16 Heading down Ski Hut. It's odd to have it be pitch black looking down at the trail, but then all have all those bright lights in the distance.
17 Made it down the toughest section of trail, which was not as bad in the dark as I feared it would be.
18 And back down to the Ski Hut for an interesting night time shot.
19 Last photo for the night. Definitely a great adventure!
