On our last full day at Patagonia Camp, we both went kayaking on Lago Toro, then did a couple short, but nice, hikes around the lake.
Our excursion for the day is kayaking on Lago Toro. Here Dad shows off his wetsuit, which is required for kayaking on the ice cold glacial lake.
Out on the water in our full sea kayaking gear.
Dad's an experienced kayaker.
Me, not so much. We started in a sheltered area of the lake in relatively calm conditions. It took me a while, but I was starting to get the hang of it and was feeling pretty good.
But before long, we were out into a more exposed area of the lake, and the winds were really picking-up. I was getting pulled out towards the middle of the lake and had to make a mad dash back to the shoreline!
Later in the day, we took a short self-guided hike out to Cascada del Toro.
Las Cascadas del Toro. A beautiful spot.
A quick video of the falls.
Someone happened by to take our picture.
A look down at Lago Toro from the trail.
Heading back to camp. The empty trail is a welcome respite from yesterday's crowds.
After hanging out at camp for a bit, we take another self-guided hike, this time out to Los Azules, a lookout near camp. Here we walk along a nice lake behind the camp. I wish we had gone kayaking on these calm waters!
The view of the lakes from the Los Azules lookout.
Dad taking in the view.
For dinner that night, I have octopus, which was the thickest octopus I've ever had. The food and service here all week has been tremendous. Gourmet all the way, including the presentation on the plate. But the best part was the "changing of the silverware" as the servers brought different pieces of silverware througout the meal, and placed them perfectly around your plate, depending on what you ordered.
