4/13/14 A camping trip to Idyllwild with friends gave me the chance for a quick run on Mt. San Jacinto up the Deer Springs Trail to Suicide Rock. About 8 miles round trip, including running back to the campsite, and over 2,000' of elevation gain.
1 About 2 1/2 miles up the Deer Springs Trail is the junction for Suicide Rock. A relatively steep 2 mile round trip from the junction.
2 Awesome, pine needle cushioned single track.
3 The view of Lily Rock and Tahquitz Peak from across Strawberry Valley.
4 A few groupings of what I am pretty sure are Sequoias.
5 And a few really big Sequoias along the way.
6 Layers of hazy mountains. Typical view from the San Jacinto area.
7 Narrow, tree-lined single track.
8 The snow plants must really be confused this year. Normally they pop up out of the snow or just after the snow melts. This year, there has hardly been any snow.
9 Great view of Lily Rock and Tahquitz Peak from Suicide Rock at 7,528'.
10 Too bad I don't know the couple in this picture. They would probably like the shot.
